Yoga

Yoga is a mind and body practice with over 3,000 years of history in ancient Indian philosophy. There are many ways to practice yoga and the more commonly known styles combine physical postures, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation.

Practicing yoga has many benefits for both mental and physical health. Among those are decreasing stress and relieving anxiety, reducing chronic pain, promoting sleep, easing depression, improving the health of your heart and lungs, improving strength, flexibility, muscle tone, relieving migraines and promoting healthy eating habits.

However, the more intangible benefits of yoga are numerous. Yoga is a Sanskrit word that is often translated as "yoke" or "union". The uniting of your mind, body, and spirit with the universal consciousness. Whether or not you can identify with the idea of a universal consciousness or energy, the physical and mental practice of yoga helps you to gain autonomy over your own mind as well as your body. The ability to govern your thoughts, control the endless mental chatter, stay in the present moment, and ground yourself in reality, provides peace and serenity. A freedom from the endless noise of our modern society. Yoga is freedom of physical expression and thought. Yoga is freedom. 

I work with a range of clients of all ages and abilities. I offer a weekly program of group yoga classes in North Devon, see timetable below, and also offer private individual and group classes, both in person and by zoom.

My therapeutic practice, tailored to each client’s personal requirements, will help improve everyone’s health and wellbeing, no matter their age or ability.

One to One or private group yoga lessons start from £45/hour and can be by zoom, in your own home, in my little yoga studio, “The Sail Loft”, at 7 Wrafton Road, Braunton, Devon or I can hire a private hall, whichever you prefer.
